BlazingDragon's News

Posted by BlazingDragon - April 3rd, 2011

I am looking to compose music for a game or flash animation. If you are interested in original music for your project, please contact me via personal message. I am willing to work cheap (and even free) depending on the circumstances.

For anyone interested, you can now download five pieces of my sheet music in a single zip file. They are in PDF format and consist of-

1. Sadness and Sorrow
2. Story Left Untold
3. Ambient Evening
4. Grasping for the Wind
5. Lullaby

Here is the web address:

If you'd like other sheets, message me and I'll see what I can do.

In other news, I just found out that KateTheGreat19 of YouTube did a vocal cover of my song, Sadness and Sorrow v.2! I'm not sure where the lyrics came from, but I appreciate whatever kind soul wrote them. I highly recommend you check out the video!

Also, take a look at the rest of her work on YouTube. She has made dozens of arrangements of video game tracks, and two have been posted on OverClocked Remix. She sings the vocals, writes the lyrics, and plays the instruments herself, all recording from the home studio that she rigged up in her closet. Pretty impressive stuff!

Now, I leave you with the following inspiration poster to think about. :D

Sheet music and Sadness and Sorrow vocal arrangement?!

Recently, I've found out that several of my pieces have been used in sponsored flash games without my permission. In other words, someone uses my music in a game and then sells the game for profit to sites such as Armor Games or Coolbuddy. I definitely want to continue uploading free music, but experiences such as these are making me more cautious. Do I stop putting my music up on newgrounds because of a few people stealing my music? Is there anything I can do about it?

What are your thoughts?

I now have piano sheets for Ambient Evening, Sadness and Sorrow v.2, Lullaby, Grasping for the Wind, and Story Left Untold. If you would like these or want to request sheets that are currently unavailable, please send me an inbox message. Thanks! :)

The UMKC Summer Music Composition Workshop was amazing! I had my piece performed and recorded live. Check it out here on Newgrounds, and comment/shoot me a message if you're interested in knowing more about my experience at the workshop.

I hope you enjoy!

In a little under a week, I'll be attending the Summer Composition Workshop at the UMKC Conservatory! While there, I will work individually with a professor mentor, and one of my original pieces may be performed in a free concert next Friday. I didn't think that I would be able to attend due to money issues, but I recently received a $400 scholarship in the mail for the camp. :D

In other news, I am now placing my work on YouTube piece by piece. I found that other people were putting my songs on there and getting around 100,000 views, and that has prompted me to explore this new venue.

The first piece that I've added is Sadness and Sorrow V.2-

Additionally, I do have sheet music for both Sadness and Sorrow and Story Left Untold. Contact me with your email address if you would like either. :)

...take the opportunity to see a live symphony. I was blessed today with the experience of attending a concert by the Kansas City Symphony, and it was nothing short of breath-taking. I have listened to classical/symphonic music on the computer, but it is nothing like experiencing it live in concert hall.

In short, the concert was inspiring and wonderful. Definitely recommended. :)

EDIT: Thanks to the generous donations of a friend and SpikeVallentine, I have purchased the keyboard and received it today! I am really excited to compose with this, and I thank those who contributed and allowed me to make this purchase. :) God is good.
------

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was wonderful; spending time with my family was fantastic, and I received several generous gifts (such a new razor to shave with!). I now have $100 to put toward a MIDI Controller and am saving. A MIDI Controller would be invaluable to my composing. It would speed up the creative process exponentially and help me to put out more music faster. I would no longer have to point and click for every note. I would also have increased control over all aspects of production.

The keyboard I am looking at features 88 weighted keys, 9 sliders, 24 rotating nobs, several programmable buttons, two mod wheels, and a display screen. It is incredible and is practically everything I want in a controller. It retails at $600 and is now on sale for $300!

I am $200 short. I am in high school and have no job and no car. Composing is my passion, and this MIDI Controller would be an immeasurable blessing. If at all possible, please help me to realize this goal! Even a few dollars would be great.

If you would like to donate to the cause, please send me a PM and I can tell you how to get it to me. I want to put more music up, and this product would help.

Thank you, and enjoy the music! :)

Thank you to everyone who has supported and uplifted me. There are times when I feel like giving up with music. Then I read the kind words in many reviews, and I know that even if it is only to one person, I am making a difference. That keeps me going.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope that your year ends on a high note. :)

I am making a goal to have music available for sale on Itunes within a year from now.

The question is, would any of you buy the songs?

I would still put music on newgrounds, but a portion of my compositions would go straight to sale on Itunes. This way, I'd make a bit of money on the side to purchase new hardware and software, all the while still producing free music. Of course, I'd take more time to master tracks that I sold to make it worth the money. Probably $.99 per song, of which I'd make roughly $.55-.60

What do you think? Would you support me and buy a song once in a while?
