Ah, so that's who you really are. I like finding out about who people are in the "real world". I'm a 26 year old kid who grew up in the woods in Mississippi, surrounded by chicken houses and cow pastures. My first job was working on a house framing crew. 40 hours a week of sunshine and labour. When I got home from work I would often delve into hours of music practice or computer programming. Now I'm a graduate student studying mechanical engineering. I have far less free time and more stress but I still manage music practice sometimes. I'm definitely doubting the path of life I am on right now. After using my brain to do research I feel like there is nothing left when I come home.
Girls are scary, man. Just tell her how you feel. If she feels the same way, then you will be happy and be inspired to write endearing music. If she never talks to you again, then you will be depressed and inspired to write beautiful sad music. Either way, it is a win-win situation for us, your fans. So go for it!
I love composing and playing music, but I'm more serious about leaving reviews. I have a very critical mind and I'm trying to put it to good use. :)
You really do have a knack for putting emotion into music, and that goes a long way. You're too critical of yourself, but that probably accellerates your learning.

House framing sounds rough! I've spent several summers working for my brother's moving business, and I finally decided that manual labor is not for me. Great money, but my degenerative disc told me that the pain wasn't worth it. x_x
Figuring out the right career can be tough. It's nice to have a job that brings a lot of income, but it's not so nice being too busy to enjoy any of it. I took the Myers-Briggs personality test as well as the Clifton StrengthsFinder, and I felt that both gave me a lot of insight into possible career paths. For example, I am very skilled in math and science, but I get the most joy from creative activity. Although I have the mental aptitude to be an engineer, it would really suck the life out of me. Instead, I'm looking for something that will challenge me mentally while allowing me to create and interact with people. These personality tests might not be for everyone, but I think they can really help you to realize what makes you tick and avoid some potentially bad career paths.
You've got a great point about the girl! No matter what happens, I can tell the story through new music. That's what I really like about writing music anyway; telling my stories.
I respect that fact that you leave so many reviews. It's the kind of thing that you don't get a lot of glory for, but it makes a huge impact on people. I wish there were more people like you in that regard.
As for my name... When I was 11-years-old, I decided to make an account on the official Nintendo Nsider Forums (no longer existent). I wanted to be anonymous and thought that dragons were pretty much the coolest thing ever, but almost everything was taken. IceDragon, FireDragon, etc. "BlazingDragon" was the first one I found that wasn't taken. The name stuck, and I used it when I made a newgrounds account as a 12 or 13-year-old.
I kind of hate the name now because it seems a bit childish. I'm a bit embarrassed with people in real life ask me for my website and I say to look up BlazingDragon on Newgrounds. I'm finally at the point where I want to associate my real name with my music, but so many people already know me by this moniker. I'll probably keep it here on newgrounds but go by my real name elsewhere.

Late to the game as usual, but I just saw this and now realize how similar our paths are. I too am a 20-y/o who, growing up in a minuscule village (lost in the northern regions of Québec), didn't think I'd amount to much. After a long time learning to play music, I started feeling that merely playing the music wasn't sufficient to let go of all my creativity, and so I stole my father's old laptop which had an ANCIENT copy of Sibelius and fiddled around on it until I was satisfied with what I had made.
Long story short, I ended up posting stuff here after being impressed at all the stuff being put out, and thought exactly what some of your fans think- that is, that they were all professional top-charters who received thousands upon thousands of fan mail. The idea that I had the opportunity to put my stuff besides theirs is what brought me to composition, and later developed my interest in developing and pursuing it as a career.
My point is, if your creative outlet can transfer your passion unto younger generations and make a difference in their life, then I'd say that your entire career choice was a success! I don't get much of that this time around, but the amount of friends and contacts (including you!) I've made through this outlet; the tips and advice I've received and given throughout the years; the opportunities I've had to develop and express my craft; all that, and so much more, is what keep me going in this path.
I truly hope that you get to do what you love most as your primary source of revenue, if only so that you can inspire more people to do the same, but remember this: Whatever happens, know that you've already made a difference in the heart of everyone here!

First and foremost, thanks for the heartfelt post, BD. I think you should continue to follow your wants and desires regarding music. I only need to look at what has happened to you over this past year to qualify that statement.
You were in a pretty nasty accident where one (both? can't remember) hands were either broken or severely injured. You battled back from that and used the piano as one of your rehab tools (and gave us great improv pieces to show for it - "For Now, Goodbye" is my fav of those). Someone who has and uses that type of motivation should, indeed, follow up on it. Take care can't wait to hear more from you with what remains of this year and into next year.
