Okay

Wow, that's pretty good guitar for 13-years-old! I wish I could play. :P

Your song is alright, and I like the beginning. But then it dropped, and all it was were chords, which was dissapointing. I would have liked a melody, and it to be longer. It was short, so I had to mark down diversity. I can tell you probably put some effort into this, though. It was also king of fuzzy and I had to turn my speakers up, and there was background noises. We can't all afford expensive equipment to record with though, so it's alright. :P (I know I can't afford it)

I would like to see you write some music for multiple instruments. Your song isn't bad, but it's too short to really review properly. Nice try, though!

actually i just made this up in 5 minutes, the background noise was the tv, and i can only play guitar

Beautiful

This is my first listen here in the Jazz section of the audio portal, and I'm pleased with this song! :)

It love the improv., and the background is very simple and enjoyable. I love the Alto Sax, and you've got a lot of skill with it! The strings and bass guitar are a nice addition, along with the latin-like (?) percussion.

I don't know much about jazz, but I know I like this piece a lot. Really enjoyable! :D

It's different

It wasn't the most original composition I've heard in technical terms, as it was fairly simple. I did think that the dissonance was okay in this piece, as it was being used for effect and not due to a bad ear. It actually added some originality. I knocked off the diversity score, as it was all mostly similar without anything to set parts of the song apart much. The sound was clear and clean, though I would have liked the piano to be a little less damp and a little more "crisp". (I don't know if that makes sense) Great effort to bring something new and different, as always.

In terms of raw emotion and feeling, I liked the song a lot. It was sad and peaceful at the same time. The half-step dissonances were a little dissorienting at some times, but added taste in others. I loved the chord progression and the emotion in the simple melody.

8/10 as a whole, and a 5/5 rating for another work well done.

(I'm trying to be slightly more harsh with reviews for now on, even if only a little. I'm too soft most of the time. :P )

Bosa responds:

No, I like to see the true strength in a person. Bringing out one's emotional strengths and keeping in one's emotional weakness is one of the keys of success.

You said what had to be said, and you announced it quite well. A new, innovative tune that could use improvement. Through, and true. I'm starting to respect you, BlazingDragon.

It certainly is original O_o...

Holy cow! I never saw the "Jump to page" link! I thought you only had fifty songs...Wow...103? That is absolutely amazing! Well, I'll give this a quick review!

Wow, you really like to use crazy effects, even back in 2005. :P It's really comical how you speed up and slow down, highering and lowering notes. It's almost disturbing.

What software do you use for the most part? Some of the effects you do are amazing!

Good job on this. It's short, but good. A little weird, but so are some of your other pieces!

8/10

Bosa responds:

Heh, heh! My first song was one of my best, to be in my opinion. This was a live recording back in my college years. Barlow, as I call him, was the one who played the violin. Everything else was made on a program that shall and forever remain anonymous.

Scary! :O

I can feel the unbridled rage swelling within the piece; curse those zero voters! :O Anyway, back to the review. :P

From the beginning, there is a strong, forboding sense of something ominous approaching. It is subtle at first with the high strings. It isn't even anger, so much as pressure building (if that makes sense). After that, the song just became kind of like a volcano about to erupt, but...Never did. When the first part ended, (and the part timpani and snare came in) I was half-expecting a violent explosion of pent up energy. I was kind of dissapointed by what actually happened. It simply didn't fit the song as a whole. The ending was too abrupt as well, IMO.

I loved the beginning with the high strings. The cello was incredible. It really gave that dark feeling. I would have liked it to have been a litter louder and longer, though. The choir "Ah!" that made a one-time appearance shortly after didn't fit well. It almost lightened the atmosphere. The low vocals were great, though. Just that one high chord bothered me. I liked some of the sound effects you used in the strings (where they would spiral downward and swell back up) but it is becoming a little overused in some of your songs. The second part of the song with the timpani, again, bothered me. It just didn't fit. It wasn't bad in itself, but in the context of the song, it didn't work. I did like the low male choir at the end. (were they chanting something?)

Dynamics and other effects were great! The strings had a nice balance of dynamics, and you did a great job of increasing the volume appropriately as the song sped up. Again, I would have liked the cello at the beginning louder. The coolest aspect of your song, perhaps, is how it seems to speed up and slow down tempo for effect. I don't know how to do that in my software (FL Studio). What software do you use most often, BTW?

There are a lot of things I am picky about and would have liked done better here, but the good outweighs the bad. You did a fine job on this one, friend. :P (You seem to say friend a lot)

9/10 rating and 5/5 vote. Blasted zero voters!!!

Bosa responds:

Death to them all, I say! I enjoyed reading this review, and you have given me yet another inspiration.

For this, I congratulate you.

Great!

I liek this a lot! It has a lot of energy and it's fun to listen too. :D I think you're better at techno than classical (no offense).

I like the electric piano or whatever it is. The bass is pretty cool too; it sounds bouncy.

I don't know a lot about techno, but I like your arrangement! Keep up the good work, and try too make it longer next time!

DreamGate responds:

thx :) think the bass is to much though :P

Too short!

I like the original of this song a lot, as it has a very flowing melodic line. I've always loved listening to it and arrangements of it.

Your rendition of the piece is alright in my opinion. Nothing bad, but nothing that grabs my attention and says, "Listen to me!" It lacked a certain level of originality. It sounded close to the original aside from the instrument choice and the high pitched "beeps". It also just repats itself, even before it loops. Here are my suggestions:

-Make it more original; change it up a little more by changing the melody of harmony a little. Embelish it a little more!
-Add some variety; You've got a decent idea, but it's too short. Maybe you could add some more intruments, or change it (even if only a little) instead of just having those few bars repeat over and over.

I did like the strings or pad or whatever it was in the lower register. It sounded fairly close to the melody at times, but with some of your own personality. Try to do mroe of that!

Not bad, but not great. Keep working at it! :)

DreamGate responds:

i just wanted to make a clear piece and nothing to complicated that may ruin it (: okay now i'm from sweden and understand most of your typing ^^ thx for the rev, one day i will go pro =D

Good Samples?!

Is it just me, or are these samples better than that of your past work? They sound much more natural and properly reverbed. The sound effects are incredible too! (Ocean, birds, ect)

Anyhow, I really like it! I find it really relaxing. I love the melody instrument; it's almost like the bells (Which I play in my school band). The piano is nice and relaxed, too. This almost reminds me of a certain level on Super Mario 64. :P The only part that I had problems with was an octave in the bass in the piano toward the song's end. It sounded unnatural to me. It just didn't blend in, as it should have been held a bit longer.

As for the arrangement, I love what you've done! The chords you used are interesting and gives Zelda's Lullaby a new feel. You did a great job on the dynamics, too! I can tell you've poured your heart into this one!

Great job! 10/10 (95/100, Not quite perfect :P)

SuperTonic64 responds:

Nope, I didn't get any new samples, I just used some different ones out of my massive library. (It's actually from the same soundfont I use. :D)

I used a Fantasia pad, a Crystal pad, and a Grand Piano to get the right, waterlike texture for this song. :) It almost does sound like the bells when mixed the right way. :D Oh, and I think you are talking about Dire Dire Rocks from SM64? (I could be wrong though. :P)

Yeah, I had a feeling that I needed to extend that hold a little longer...:P I'll work on that. >_>"

I wanted this piece to be a little bit darker than the normal Zelda's lullaby so I based the chordal structure off of minor instead of major chords. :D That's why there is a Picardy Third at the end to signify the transition from minor to major. :D After composing many bland songs that had no real feeling, I want to work harder to bring one of the most important elements into my music: dynamics. :D If I can allow my listeners to feel what I feel, then I have done my job. :)

Thanks for the long review! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed this song. :D

I like the strings!

I liek it a lot. It's beautiful. My favorite part is the reverbed bass drum and the strings. The samples could be better, but that doesn't take away from the song itself. It does get a little repetitive, but it's pretty good as a whole. I would love to hear more in the background though, other than just a chord in the strings. Maybe a counter-melody or just some more instrumentation. Good job!

F-777 responds:

Glad you like it. Thanks for the review.

=D

Bells at last!

It was very nice to hear the bells for once, as I play them in my school band quite often. :) You don't hear many songs on here with them.

I really liked the song. I love the bells throughout the song, especially when they do this downward, faster motion later on in the song. I liked the percussion as well, and the tubuler bells. The waltz-like piano was nice and it was complimented by the strings. I liked the brass seasoned throughout as well. There was a nice level of variety too! I liked the oboe too, btw.

Nice job as a whole! I like the instrumentation and variety. I LOVE the waltz feel. It was fun for me to listen too, and a bit haunting. Very good job, though I would love to hear it with some better samples.

5/5

sorohanro responds:

well, bells... one of my favourite percussion instruments...
didn't quite used too much cause i didn't find good samples of it .
Glad you liked my work, i'll check yours later ;)
